Lauterbrunnen and the Jungfrau are a magnet for the tourists that visit Switzerland. The Jungfrau-bahn for my taste are just really expensive and until a few years ago you didn’t even get a discount with the GA or Halbtax. As it stands today you will get a 50% discount. I am still not prepared to pay so much money to go up the Jungfrau (it is on my list…). But the train ticket with a GA from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg (return ticket) is 23 CHF which is better than other mountain trains or Cable car.
My sister just had her birthday and we wanted to do something nice that weekend. The only good weather forecast was in that region.
It is an experience to stand so close to the famous Eiger-Nordwand. You know the Eiger is famous and all that but until you didn’t experience it that close?
It’s the same when you enter the Yosemite valley for the first time or see the Matterhorn it is just amazing.
This hike from Kleine Scheidegg to Männlichen and back. gives you nearly constant views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. It is a comfortable hike with a lot of options to just sit down and enjoy the views. There are some really short sections that might be a bit steep for some people but all in all, this is a hike for everyone.
