Finally with a bit of delay. Here my last section of the via Albula, that I hiked last summer.
This section can be done all year around. In summer you get beautiful views of mountains and lake, in winter frozen lakes and winter wonderland.
In Sommer you can hike, bike and what not in winter you can do cross-country skiing.
You start at the train station and turn left and make your way to the lake St. Moritz. You get beautiful vies of the surrounding mountains. From there you make your way to the next lake Lej da Staz, this is a short uphill section and once you are in the woods you make your way down again.
I took a wrong turn, missed the sign that said Punt Muragl Staz. So be sure to look at each sign at every intersection and don’t assume the right direction.
Once you passed the Punt Murag Staz, you walk parallel to the train track again and you make your way to Pontresina. If you time your hike well you will pass through the village around lunch time. Pontresina is a tourist place like St. Moritz, they have a lot of outdoor activity four young and old.
I really liked the second part of this hike, you get away from some of the street noise (not all the time unfortunately) but you get nice sections of forest and meadows and this is something I really like when hiking. The last few km you really walk right next to the train track and just after the train station Morteratsch you see a hiking trail that goes to the Morteratch glacier.
