This week’s trip, I didn’t want to go very far. So I was looking for trips in Kanton Zurich and I found this trip here. It looked reasonable with 15km with a commend one needed a good set of lungs (I confirm that) it should be easy. So I goggled a gpx track and found this one here. It isn’t the same as the one above but I just wanted it as a reference for the Hike. In the end I did the route below
So by train you have two options to get to Steg.
Zurich HB -> Winterthur (S12) -> Steg (S26) 1h 8min
Zurich HB -> Rüti ZH (S15) -> Steg (S26) 51min
At the Train station in Steg you walk to you right and from there you have Hiking Sings to Schnebelhorn and other places.
The Hike to the highest summit point in Kanton Zurich, Schnebelhorn, takes about 2.5h and on a really nice day you can see the alps in the south and the Santis in the east. I wasn’t so lucky today. It was a nice sunny day and really warm.
It was a nice trip, it will be definitely a place where I will go again in the future, and go different routes. just the fact that it is 1 hour away from Zurich is amazing.
