Vella-Surcuolm

This is my second Trip, unfortunately the weather wasn’t as nice as last week. The Storm Gisela, brought a lot of snow and as you can see here the Hazard map my planned Trip is in the Hazard zone 3 just left fo Ilanz.

The Hike starts in Vella at the Postoffice. The first part is through the village Vella. It is a beautiful little place and as you walk through the streets you will see what I mean. I would take a printed map with you of the village so that you won’t take the wrong turn, don’t get me wrong there are sings that say in which direction you should go but in winter and all the snow… let’s just say that I took the wrong turn once or twice. After about 2km you will reach the village Morissen and from there it is a steady uphill until you reach the little forest, there you will have the highest point of the trip. On your way down you will cross some ski slopes, be carefull there, and if you want to stop for lunch (see opening times) you can go to the restaurant Bündner Rigi.

Alternative if you want to make this hike in the summer you can make a different hike and go to the top of Piz Mundaun. (here)
